Another month, another wee stack of adventures! This month, I’ve had my heart warmed – and broken – in Tokyo, Stockholm, America through the eyes of Dominican immigrants and London; huddled in a blanket while reading about the chilling-in-more-ways-than-one events unfolding in Colorado (yes, Misery is a cracking film but yes, the book is even better); zoomed around London with The Queen and secretly hoping I’ll get the chance to use the phrase Pisseur de copie someday.
Here’s my February reading list!
- The Guest Cat – Takashi Hiraide
- Misery – Stephen King
- Anxious People – Fredrick Backman
- Gangsta Granny Strikes Again – David Walliams
- Drown – Juno Diaz
- A Far Cry from Kensington – Muriel Spark
- For Your Own Good – Samantha Downing
The Wild Silence by Raynor Winn was on my to-read list this month, but it starts in a dark place and I was not in the good space to read it. I loved her first book, so will save this one for now when life’s a bit brighter. Gangsta Granny Strikes Again was just the tonic I needed (and yes, I read kids books – they’re the reason I fell in love with reading the first time, so why not read them now?!)

It’s been a great month for finding wee gems and also reading a couple I’ve been meaning to for ages. The Guest Cat and Anxious People are by those special kind of writers who you only come across now and again. I have never in my life been so confused by a bunny rabbit. Juno Diaz once again did not disappoint – This Is How You Lose Her is one of my favourite books ever.

I really need to improve my photo-taking skills! Might hoover next time too 😀
